Mukta Barve

Details: Pune born Mukta Barve is a complete Marathi actress, having experienced all the three areas of acting, i.e., stage, television and films. Her first play was ‘Ghar Tighancha Hava’, while she was still in school.  When Mukta graduated from Pune University with specialisation in theatre arts, she joined Lalit Kala Kendra (Institute for Fine Arts), Pune, to further polish her acting skills, besides learning costume designing and music.

Mukta then decided to move to Mumbai to pay attention on her acting career. She first started working in TV serials like ‘Abhalmaya’, ‘Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre’, ‘Buwa Ale’ and ‘Chitta Chor’, ‘Agnihotra’ and a TV show ‘Lajja’. Later, she performed on stage with plays like ‘Hum To Tere Ashique Hai’, ‘Final Draft’ and ‘Kabaddi-Kabaddi’ and won critical acclaim for her performances. 

Her TV serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta’ in 2012, brought her popularity and fame. But, her performance in Marathi film ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’ in 2010 also received a good response. Actually, Mukta had made her Marathi film debut through ‘Chakva’ followed by ‘Savar Re’, ‘Maati Maay’ and ‘Ek Daav Dhobi Pachad’. However, her 2009 film ‘Jogwa’ won national award. Mukta’s chemistry with Swapnil Joshi worked very well in ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai’ and both of them appeared once again in ‘Mangalashtaka Once More’ in 2013.
