The goal may not be clear when the actor begins the journey. However, every milestone achieved has the same feeling as being on the top of the world. Versatile actress, Kishori Shahane, has the same feeling now as she has reached the milestone of performing in 75 films.
When ZEE Talkies spoke to her during the first look of her 75th film, she said, “I began my film acting career with Girish Ghanekar’s Marathi film, ‘Prem Karuya Khullam Khulla’, starring Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde and Rekha Rao. My performance in this film was highly appreciated by critics and the audience, which boosted my confidence. Along with managing my college education from Mithibai College, I decided to focus my attention on Marathi films. Actually, little before this, I had played a small role of Naseeruddin Shah’s Fiancée in Subhash Ghai’s film `Karma’.”
When asked about how she looks back at her long career of more than 25 years, she said, “Kshitij Zarapkar’s film ‘Dhurandhar Bhatawadekar’ is my 75th film. When I was performing in Marathi films, I also got offers from Hindi films like ‘Hafta Bandh’, ‘Bomb Blast’ and so on. It was during that period, I fell in love with filmmaker Deepak Balraj Vij and we got married happily. It was only when our son Bobby was small; I remained away from film roles. But, soon found myself busy with Hindi Marathi serials and films.”
Kishori was more than happy to mention about the important films in her career. “Actually, it is very difficult to point out the best ones. “There are many like ‘Aatmavishwas’, ‘Narbachiwadi’, `Yedaa’ and so on. The list is big. I am happy that I kept myself busy and tried to remain fit. Once, I even took part in Ms. India beauty contest. I am a big devotee of Sai Baba and my journey in acting is still going on, with his blessings,” she concluded.
