Known for his previous films like ‘Tighi’, ‘Shyamche Vadil’ and ‘Sangharsh’, director Viraj Raje is all set to release his next two Marathi films, one after the other. ‘Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’, an entertaining comedy, is all set to release on September 11, 2015. His other film ‘Babanchi Shala’, on a sensitive subject, will be released on October 23, 2015.
‘Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’ has already created a buzz on social networking sites, because of the presence of Comedy King Bhau Kadam, playing the central character. ‘Babanchi Shala' has already won many awards at various film festivals.
Zeetalkies spoke to director Viraj Raje and the committed director spoke about his forthcoming film ’Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’.
Q. Why did you think of selecting only Bhau Kadam to play the central character in ‘Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’?
A: When I was sitting with Parag Kulkarni, the writer of this film, to finalise the flashy character of Bhau Damadar, dressed in white clothes and sporting a thick gold chain, I could not think of anyone else other than Bhau Kadam. He was a perfect fit for that role. When I approached him with this offer, he too liked the role.
Q: Is your film a tribute to the late Dada Kondke?
A: Yes, I can say so. Actually we have not used the photos or scenes of Dada Kondke in this film. Yet, it is dedicated to the great actor who gave 9 hit films, eventually etching his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. Dada was one film maker who used Marathi language to create non -stop humor.
Q: Is the title of the film also inspired by names of Dada Kondke’s films?
A: This title was selected because of the view point of three different characters in my film who come together to make a film.
Q: Tell us something about the other important characters in this film?
A: Well, there is Rajesh Bhosale, a struggling director who convinces a good looking youngster with six pecks played by Chinmay Udgirkar. He promises him to make a film hero, who in turn persuades Girija Joshi to impress the happy-go-lucky producer played by Bhau Kadam. All these artistes, including Aarti Solanki, have performed exceptionally well. I am expecting a very good response from the audience.
