Popularly known as Bhau, Bhalchandra Kadam began his acting career about 14 years ago through Marathi plays. He came into the limelight with a popular television comedy show ‘Fu Bai Fu’, a few years ago. He continues to make audiences laugh even today, with another comedy show ‘Chal hava Yeu Dya’.
It was because of his popularity on TV shows that Bhau started getting offers from Marathi films like ‘Time Pass’, ‘Sangato Aika’, ‘Pune Via Bihar’, ‘Kokanastha’, ‘Narbachi Wadi’, ‘Miss Match’ and so on. In all these films, Bhau had very limited roles with nothing much to do except for generating some humor with his presence on the screen. His real potential was exploited by director Viraj Raje, in his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’, which is all set to release next week.
Zeetalkies had a chat with this gifted actor, who is known for his simplicity. Excerpts from a short interview:
Q: We understand that the central character of a producer, played by you, in forthcoming film ‘Vajlach Pahije Game Ki Shinema’, is an once-in-a-lifetime role for you?
A: Actually, I have not played such type of character in films before. It was something special for me. It was a perfect representation of a happy-go-lucky producer. I am thankful to Viraj for offering me this role, which is full of fun.
Q: So you are playing a full length role in films for the first time?
A: Yes, and I really enjoyed doing it. There was plenty of scope given to me to perform in different scenes.
Q: What next after ‘Vajlach Pahije…’?
A: I just finished shooting for Girish Kulkarni’s next film ‘Jaoo Dya Na Balasaheb’. This film will also release soon.
Q: So you are keeping yourself busy with films and TV programmes. What about Marathi plays? Have you stopped the shows?
A: No, not at all. I am doing a play ‘Karun Gelo Gaav’. I do find time for the shows of this play on Saturdays and Sundays, when I am not shooting for TV programmes or films.
Q: Looking at your present progress, do you think that you are a successful actor now?
A: No, I will not say that because I have yet to achieve my goal.
