Versatile actor Vikram Gokhale has a long and luminous career in acting on stage, television, and films. During this period, he has performed with many well-known actors from Marathi and Hindi film industry. However, his wish to perform with certain artistes is yet to be fulfilled. Recently, when we met him, he spoke about his experiences with some of them.
“I always enjoy my work while I am shooting. It is for this reason that my passion for acting is still the same as it used to be 40 years ago. However, I regret that during this long career, I have still not worked with artistes like Rekha, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan. And I am really surprised about it. However, I am looking forward to work with them in near future. I worked with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time in ‘Parwana’ 45 years ago. That was his time of struggle. Then, after twenty years, I got another opportunity to work with him, in Mukul Anand’s film ‘Agneepath’. Such things keep happening in our film industry,” he said.
Vikram Gokhale has also directed a Marathi film ‘Aaghaat’. However, after that we did not see him directing another film. When we asked him the reason, he said, “Actually, I don’t feel like approaching any film producer with a proposal that I have a good script with me. How many such people should I approach? And, even if a particular producer agrees to allow me to direct a film on my own story, will he agree to work according to my requirements? Today, I do have few scripts ready and there can be good films made on these subjects. But, I am not going to run after the producers,” he added.
His new Film ‘Siddhant’ is releasing on Friday. When asked to comment on his present assignments, he said, “I wouldn’t say that ‘Siddhant’ is totally a different film. However, it will certainly offer entertainment to the intellectuals. The film is very well presented. Then, there are films like ‘Sez’ and ‘Youth’, which will follow. A change is seen in Marathi films, nowadays. And, the audience should also respond positively to these new subjects.”
