Popularly known as a comedy actor, Vijay Patkar has also tried his hand at direction through his humor-filled film ‘Lavu Ka Laath’. Now, he has directed a film ‘Mohar’ on a serious subject. This film is due to release on October 9, 2015. Recently, when we met Vijay Patkar, he spoke about his film ‘Mohar’. “This is my first film on a serious subject but this film came to me by coincidence. Actually, the film was being directed by Sanjiv Naik; unfortunately he met with an accident. Therefore to avoid delay, he suggested my name for direction to the film’s producers Pandharinath Pawar and Sangita Satdive. At that time, I was busy with my other film. Moreover, being the President of Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, it was a challenge to take up this additional responsibility. But with the finest cooperation received from the producers, artistes and technicians, I could complete the shooting of this film within the scheduled time.”
Incidentally, Mr. Patkar had an opportunity to work with well-known artistes like Prasad Oak and Aditi Sarangdhar for the first time. Speaking about them, he said, “As an actor or director, I had never worked with them before. It was made possible with this film. I was really amazed by the dedication, hard work and commitment by these two artistes during the shooting. Both Prasad and Aditi had worked together before and therefore their understanding of every situation in this film was also good. In this film, there are also other artistes like Sayaji Shinde, Hemalata Bane,Vijay Kadam, Manasi Naik and child artistes Prajakta Jagtap and Chaitanya Ghadge.”
Finally, when inquired about the seriousness of the subject of this film, he said, “It is a story about a couple with two children, set in a village. All of a sudden, they encounter a crisis in their lives. But with the help of strong family bonding and faith, they face the challenge courageously.”
