Some actors make an impression in their first look. Marathi film & TV actor Kashyap Parulekar is one of them. When Mahesh Kothare was looking for the leading man for his TV serial ‘Mann Udhaan Varyache’, Kashyap Parulekar had gone for the audition. So impressed was the prolific film maker with Kashyap that he finalized the actor as hero. Kashyap still remembers that actual moment, which gave him his first major break as an actor.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Kashyap initially lived at Sion and attended the famous King George English School at Dadar. Later, when the family shifted to Navi Mumbai, Kashyap joined the branch of IES School there. During his schooldays, it was his mother who pushed him into cultural programmes. While we see most mothers insisting that kids give more time to studies, Kashyap was lucky to find an encouraging mother who forced him into cultural activities. "My Mother helped me to build confidence in myself. It helped me to remove my stage fear, as initially I used to get scared to face the audience. But, I quickly gained confidence with more and more one act plays that I performed on the stage," said Kashyap, while talking to Zee Talkies.
After making his debut in Marathi films last year, through ‘Taptapadi’ a period film, Kashyap’s next film ‘Bugadi Majhi Sandal Ga’ is now all set to release on 20th February 2015. In this film, Kashyap is playing a foreign returned youngster Indrajeet Mohite from a well to do family, who wants to study the traditional Lavani, the folk art of Maharashtra. Being qualified in the field of Music, he develops more interest towards this art form for his further study.
Kashyap was all praise for his co star in this film Manasi Moghe, who is also Miss India-Universe 2013. "Manasi is very hard working and showed keen interest in learning more and more about acting and dancing during the shooting of the film. She is a quick learner. It was very necessary for both of us to know each other. So, director Mansing Pawar had kept rehearsals for few days. It was during this period, we became good friends and thereafter our chemistry worked very well throughout the film’s shooting," said Kashyap.
Kashyap was selected for this role of Indrajeet, on the basis of his performance in the film ‘Taptapadi’. Some close friends of the director had seen this film and they recommended Kashyap for ‘Bugadi Majhi Sandal Ga’. The first look of this film is out and Kashyap and Manasi really make a good romantic pair on screen. This film will surely make both of them big stars. Kashyap is already doing another untitled Marathi film of Satish Motling and recently had a 25 days long shooting schedule in Malaysia.
When asked as to what type of Marathi films he would love to do in future, Kashyap said that he would prefer a good story based commercial film, where his character will have lot to say. As a four year old child, he was always inspired by films of Kamal Haasan and Govinda. "When I was a kid, Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Appu Raja’ had inspired me a lot," he concludes.
