Till date, versatile Marathi actor Dilip Prabhavalkar has played the role of a Minister or a Politician at least 6 to 7 times, in different films. Now, he will be seen in the role of a Central Tourism Minister, in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Nagrik’, directed by Jayprad Desai. The film is all set to release on 12 June 2015.
Generally, in real life, we find journalists always confronting politicians, on various issues. They never get along well with each other. In ‘Nagrik’, writer Mahesh Keluskar has presented one such theme. But, what does Dilip Prabhavalkar feel about his role?
“This role is of different type. While constructing this character, the writer clearly wanted to show how a politician does not belong to anybody. Therefore, it was a real challenge to perform this character. And, I really enjoyed it.”
“I was always keen on playing a cunning politician, who would deliberately ignore criminal activities for his personal gain. Further, the role requiring me to face young talented artistes like Milind Soman and Sachin Khedekar, inspired me to perform with total conviction. After all, in this acting field, we always get to learn something new every day. And, it gave me immense satisfaction,” he added.
Every actor has to change himself, according to the changing world. Today, we see many new film makers, working very hard to offer something different. It is really a pleasure working with them. You also notice a healthy competition, while attempting something different. I therefore, admire the efforts of Jayaprad Desai. Really, I am proud to be part of this film,” he concluded.
Till now, all those roles of Ministers played by Dilip Prabhavalkar have always been hit. Therefore, there are lot of expectations from his character in the film ‘Nagrik’. And, his admirers are eager to see his performance.
