He has been there in Marathi film industry for the past thirty years and even today, he looks as fresh as he was when he made his debut in 1985 with Rajdatt’s film ‘Ardhangi’. Today, he takes lot of interest in promotions of his film, besides working tirelessly during its shooting. Recently, when we met him, during music release of his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Shinma’, actor Ajinkya Deo spoke to us about himself and his acting career.
“After performing in films like ‘Sou Shashi Deodhar’ and ‘Rakhandar’, I was overwhelmed by the audience response to my performance. Therefore, I feel more energetic. Of course, this was all possible because of the blessings of my parents. Nowadays, the promotion of films, has become a necessity. Our Marathi films have started releasing simultaneously all over Maharashtra and we are almost competing with Hindi films. And, our films have proved that they don’t compromise on quality. Now, I only hope that there should be more response from the audience,” he said.
A few years ago actor Ajinkya Deo tried directing a film, ‘Jeta,’ and now, in his forthcoming film ‘Shinma’, he plays the character of a film director. Speaking about his role in this film, Ajinkya said, “When producer Anil Joshi and director Milind Kavade approached me with the offer, I liked two things about this film. Firstly, the film is set on the backdrop of drought. And secondly, my role in this film, appeared totally different. I have worked very hard on it. How they have made it entertaining, through its story presentation, everybody will come to know, when the film is released on November 28, 2015.”
Looking back on a career spanning over 30 years, the actor said, “ Sometimes, I don’t believe that I did have a long career of three decades. In between, Marathi films, did go through a bad patch but, all of us were hopeful to see our best time. And, here we see the best time for Marathi films.”
