She made her debut in Marathi films through Sameer Surve’s film ‘Shree Partner’ in 2012, which was based on Kale's story. For her performance in this film, she even won a few 'Fresh Face of the Year' awards, besides getting nominated for the same at other award functions.
Recently, another of her films ‘Prem at First Sight’ made by Goa-based filmmaker Uday Salkar was released. Her next Marathi flick ‘Dagdabaichi Chaal’ is directed by Sunil Waikar. Besides that, she has two more Marathi films and one Hindi film in hand, where she has been cast opposite Sangram Salvi. Shweta will be playing the niece of Vishakha Subhedar in this film.
Zeetalkies spoke to Shweta Pagar recently, and she elaborated on her ongoing projects. In ‘Dagdabaichi Chaal’ I am casted opposite Sangram Salvi. It is a multi-starrer film and I am playing the role of Vishakha Subhedar’s niece. Highlight of this film is that Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav is making his debut in Marathi through this film,” she said.
Shweta is a Pune based girl who was studying Engineering. She left her engineering course midway and joined Arts, to complete her graduation. Later, Shweta did her specialization in Environmental Waste Management, acquiring a Diploma course. It was here that she developed an interest in acting, since she had to perform street plays to create awareness among people about waste management. She also worked for an NGO in Pune for a while. Her interest in acting made her join Anupam Kher’s acting institute. When the auditions for the film ‘Shree Partner’ were announced through a newspaper advertisement, Shweta tred her luck and got selected for the lead role.
“I didn’t know anyone in this industry. But since it was a fair selection, I could prove my ability through this open process of audition,” says Shweta.
Talking about her other two film projects, Shweta said, “I am also doing a film ‘Laadki’, where I am playing the lead role of Ashok Saraf’s daughter. It is a comedy film. Then there is another film ‘Charlie’, which is a horror comedy and the first zombie movie in Marathi, with Bharat Jadhav playing the Zombie character. This is a dream project of Sameer Surve and hence he wants to pay more attention on post-production, besides shooting with perfection. Apart from Bharat Jadhav the film stars Neha Pendse, myself, Vijay Patkar, Vrushali Katalkar, Vijay Chavan and others. In this film too, I have an important role.”
Finally, talking about her struggle in this industry, Shweta said, “You can’t achieve your goal without struggle.”
