As a lyricist, she came into the limelight with those wonderful lyrics for the title songs of TV serials like ‘Kalat Nakalat’, ‘Kulvadhu’ and ‘Majhiya Priyala Preet Kalena’. An alumnus of Sathe college, Ashwini Shende had developed interest for writing and received encouragement from her college. After completing graduation, Ashwini also worked as a journalist for 3 to 4 years for the Express Group of Publications. It was only when she started receiving offers from many TV serials that she focused her attention on this profession.
Today, Ashwini is a popular lyricist of Marathi films, having won several awards. Some of her best compositions in the recent times have been from the films like ‘Time Pass’ and ‘Mitwa’. Ashwini has also penned the song for the Hindi TV serial ‘Khamoshiyan’ on the music of Nilesh Moharir. Ashwini is now Ashwini Shende Bagwadkar after her marriage.
Recently, we saw her name in the credits of ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai-2’ and she has done a remarkable job. Besides its engaging screenplay, the dialogues of this film were very appealing. Ashwini had earlier written dialogues for serials like ‘Kalat Nakalat’ and ‘Majhiya Priyala Preet Kalena’. When we met Ashwini recently, we congratulated her and asked her where she was more comfortable - as a lyricist or dialogue writer? To this, the simple and talented youngster quickly said, “It is very difficult decide, as I am comfortable with both.”
