Nishani Dava Angatha
This movie is based on the novel ‘Nishani Dava Angtha’ by Ramesh Ingale Utrradkar. The story brings out the irony about the Literacy Campaign run by the Government in order to achieve the cent percent Literacy target in the villages of Maharastra. Sawargaon is one such small village. Bhausaheb Rathod (Ashok Saraf) is the headmaster of the village school. His School has six male and six female teachers. The teachers are aghast when one fine day they get a notice from the Education Board to conduct night school for the illiterate adult villagers. The district officers Kazi (Vinay Apte), Khasbage (Dilip Pravalkar) and Paangole (Mohan Aghase) are appointed to look over the Adult Literacy Campaign of the various districts. As it was exoected, none of the illiterate villagers are really interested in attending the classes. Dukare (Makrand Anaspure) and Bokil Bai (Nirmiti Sawant) are made the full time volunteers with the job of coordinating the various villages. For three years, the campaign is run and the records are made about the success of the campaign. However, real fear befalls Bhausaheb, his teachers and the education officers, when the external evaluation examination of the new literates is announced. What happens? Will the so-called Government scheme really succeed?
