History has provided us with numerous examples of people who have created paradise out of nothing but sheer persistence and hard work. Their ideals have been brought before the society through different mediums, so that others can get inspired by their work. Producer Vijayashree Patil and director Pandurang Jadhav, under the banner of Anand Sagar International, have exactly done that through their film ‘Manatlya Unhaat’.
The film is based on the happenings in the life of well-known social worker Tatya Patil from Tasgaon village. Despite the imminent challenge to make a film on this subject, the makers have succeeded in presenting it well to a certain extent.
The film reveals the challenges faced by Tatya Patil, and does so very systematically. But if they had taken a little more efforts in the presentation of screenplay, the film would have been more effective.
The film’s story begins with the arrival of Tatya’s (Kailash Waghmare) son (Sameer Dharmadhikari) along with his wife (Ruchita Jadhav) and children in the village. On his arrival, Tatya’s son dreams of a wine factory in the village. The film then takes the audience to a flashback.
The makers of this film have shot this film at Tasgaon, to give a realistic feel to the film’s story. The highlight of this film is the character of Tatya played by actor Kailash Waghmare, which shows him right from the age of 22 years to 65 years. He has played his part very well. Mitali Jagtap, who has played the role of his wife, has also adapted to playing the varying ages of her character effectively. The other important characters have been played well by Nagesh Bhosale, Sameer Dhamadhikari, Ruchita Jadhav, Chhaya Kadam, with good support coming from child artistes Hansraj Jagtap, Manthan Patil and Ovishikha Patil.
The story of this film is written by Sanjay Patil, while the screenplay is written by Vidyasagar Adhyapak. With so many new themes being tried nowadays in Marathi films, this is one more effort to add to the list. People living in rural areas, may find a certain connect to this film. But, will this film reach such villages in the first place?
