Marathi films have a good tradition of comedy subjects and such films are, generally well accepted by the audience. But sometimes, such films overdo the act, only to spoil the show. As a result, such films are rated in the category of average films. Director Raju Parsekar’s latest released Marathi film ‘Wanted Bayko Number One’ falls in this category.
The hero of this film is a ‘manglik’ and hence he has to wait for his marriage to happen, for five long years. He does try on his own, by enrolling his name, in a marriage bureau. The heroine of the film, is also a ‘manglik’ and is a spinster. When these two people are about to come together, they face many hurdles. This itself becomes a comedy of sorts.
But a lot more was expected from an experienced director like Raju Parsekar.Talking about the performances, Makarand Anaspure, who is good at delivering the dialogues in his peculiar style, has managed to create comedy through few scenes. Both Makarand and Tejaswini Lonari have portrayed their disturbed ‘manglik’ characters in this film with aplomb.
The film does have ample song and dance sequences, providing a typical cocktail. Though the sole motive of this film is entertainment and only entertainment, it still has that average look.
